Why stamp a passport at LGW when only changing planes? - Black and Green Luggage Bag on Brown Carpet

Wife and I flew JFK-LGW-BCN. At LGW, we were supposed to have 02:35 to change planes, but it was actually much shorter. Don't remember much other than some helpful people rushing us from place to place with my wife in a wheelchair.

But looking at our passports today, I see that both of them were stamped that date as entering UK with six month permission.

Before we were married, I changed planes several times in LGW or LHR without getting a stamp. Why would it happen this time?

Do they stamp your passport leaving UK?

Re: Do you get a custom stamp when you leave London Airport? Customs do not stamp passports, border control (border police) do. The UK do not have any passport control upon exiting the country as the EU/Schengen has so nobody gets an exit stamp.

Do you need to go through passport control for domestic flights?

Your first stop after landing is immigration and passport control - here's everything you need to know! If you're coming in on a domestic flight then you don't need to worry about immigration as you'll be able to head straight through to baggage reclaim. Flying internationally?
