Can you scan the same barcode twice?

The bar code will program the scanner not to scan the same bar code twice in a row unless the bar code is removed from the scan field or a different bar code is scanned in between.

Can a barcode scanner misread?

Scanners can also misread otherwise acceptable barcodes. Most often the cause can be traced to damaged or dirty optics, but faulty decode algorithms area known cause, albeit a rare one.

What produces a warning when a barcode is read wrongly?

Typically that would be caused by the barcode itself being damaged (e.g. some ice on a frozen product making it read incorrectly). If an error is detected, the scanner will usually make a warning sound to alert the operator.

Do all barcodes read the same?

Barcodes are used to identify products throughout the supply chain from the moment they are manufactured up until when they are purchased in a retail store. Each barcode is unique to the product that it represents.
