Travel within EU as UK/USA dual citizen [duplicate]

I need to travel from Spain to UK and return on my US passport. Is there a reason I cannot do this?

Can dual citizens travel to EU?

American citizens with dual citizenship can obtain ETIAS, unless they are holders of a European passport (of a Schengen member country), in which case, they will not be required to have a valid ETIAS upon arrival in Europe.

Can I travel within Europe with my residence permit?
