UK visa: when does my first entry date have to be?

UK visa: when does my first entry date have to be? - Teenage couple sitting in carousel seat and girl taking selfie

I have just been granted a 2-year multiple-entry UK visa. My first trip to the UK is not planned until August. I have just heard that I have to enter the UK within 90 days of my family visit visa issue date. Does anyone know if this is correct?

I have just heard that I have to enter the UK within 90 days of my family visit visa issue date.

That is not correct, there is no such requirement: your visa is valid from the fixed start date noted on the visa and remains valid until the indicated end date. You are allowed multiple entries, for up to 6 months on each trip.

How many days before my program start date should I travel to UK?

One month before the start of your programme of studies, or the date you are required to be on-campus (or one week, if your programme is less than 6 months long); OR. 7 days before your intended date of travel to the UK (as stated on your visa application form); OR.

Can I change the start date of my UK visa?

No, the only way to change your visa start date is to cancel your existing application and submit a new application. The dates on your vignette sticker are just your UK entry dates, an arrival window that you are given to enable you to enter and collect your BRP.

Can I enter UK on the day my visa expires?

It is a criminal offence under section 24 of the Immigration Act 1971 to overstay your visa without reasonable cause. If your visa has expired, you have 30 days to leave the UK voluntarily at your own expense before you face a ban on re-entry.

How long do you have to enter the UK once your visa is issued?

If (in most cases) you were applying for a visa longer than six months then you will instead be given a vignette that is valid for 90 days. You must enter the UK within the 90 days of this visa and collect your biometric residence permit (BRP) once you have arrived.
