my daughter has recently changed her name via marriage. But, she still has her valid visa on her old passport which is expired. So, my question is, can she travel United States bringing 2 passports and the proofs of name changes? And what proof does she have to bring ?

Best Answer

My wife already traveled with this situation, but the recommendation is applying for a new Visa.

If your name has legally changed through marriage, divorce, or a court ordered name change, you will need to obtain a new passport. Once you have a new passport, the Department of State recommends that you apply for a new U.S. visa to make it easier for you to travel to and from the United States.

What happens to my US visa if I change my name?

A change of name will not affect the validity of the visa. We recommend that when traveling, you carry a copy of the document showing the name change. It is not possible to 'transfer' a visa.

Can I transfer my US visa from old passport to new passport?

U.S. visas cannot be transferred from one passport to another. You can travel to the United States with both passports, or you can apply for a new visa. As long as the four names match from the old passport to the new passport, and are in the same order, you may travel with both passports.

Can I change passport name after getting visa in USA?

Passports can no longer be amended; therefore you will need to apply for a new passport. You must provide us with the original documents and their photocopies (single-sided). Original documents will be returned to you after reviewing your application.

Can I apply for US visa twice?

After being found ineligible for a visa, you may reapply in the future. If you reapply for a visa after being found ineligible, with the exception of 221(g) refusals, you must submit a new visa application and pay the visa application fee again.
